Before You,

I knew only darkness.

It was like ink,

so thick I was drowning in it

and so black I couldn't see anything else.

I breathed it in,

and with each breath,

I died a little more.

Before You,

I only knew Death and his shadow.

His land

was lonely and horrible,

but You found your way there.

You traveled

from Your Kingdom of Life

simply to find

me.

When You did,

You willingly paid the price

Death demanded

to free me.

It cost You everything.

But You wanted me

to know light.

So You paid it.

Now You lead me

on the path

back to Your Kingdom.

You are all around me,

so bright I cannot see You

and so light I feel You in the air.

I breathe You in,

and with each breath,

I come back to life

a little more.
